When I saw this original watercolour, titled "Daddy's Girl", on Ben Pitman's Facebook page (Benjaminart9) it immediately reminded me of my son, Chris, and his little girl, Hailey. I purchased the watercolour and framed it as an early Father’s Day gift for my son.
To complement the beach theme of the watercolour, I chose a rustic wood moulding, stacked with a fillet; both from Larson Juhl’s Lancaster collection. I kept the double mats a neutral colour (Peterboro’s conservation mat “chalk”), but hand-painted the bevel of the top mat a blue to match the water – just to bring in a subtle accent of colour. The title “Daddy’s Girl” was hand-written on the bottom mat in pencil. Tru Vue’s conservation clear glass was chosen for its 99% UV protection.
My son loved the painting!
